About Our Club

History:

The Waikanae Bridge Club was inaugurated on 14th March, 1974 and play commenced in the Masonic Hall on Monday nights. By the year end the membership had grown to 85 and the Club leased the Girls’ Life Brigade Hall to accommodate the increased membership. After several further shifts to rooms in Waikanae area the Club arranged for a lease of land at 27B Elizabeth Street from the Council and a suitable building for the Club was erected. Opening of these new Clubrooms was celebrated on Saturday, 9th May, 1987 with proceedings introduced by the then President, Mrs Pat Sutton.
