NZ’s “NUMBER ONE” BRIDGE CLUB

Napier Bridge Club is very proud to have won the inaugural title of top Bridge Club in NZ!

This was decided at the NZ National Bridge Champs that have just been held in Hamilton. With players from all over NZ in attendance, Napier Bridge Club took out the inaugural NZ Club Championship event in an exciting finals series. Napier won the right to play off in the 6 team finals after winning the Central Districts competition.

The finals competition was held over two days - and after the conclusion of the first two rounds on day one Napier was 5^th out of 6^th and not looking in very good shape. On the second morning they started with a perfect score in the third round which catapulted them into first place. They then worked hard to hold onto the lead during the tense final two rounds.

The Napier team was comprised of 12 players – 4 seniors, 4 intermediates and 4 juniors – this meant players with a range of playing experience from 1 year to more than 20 years were playing together in the team.
