OUTLINE OF LESSONS 2010

Lessons Introduction

Lessons are held over 10-11 weeks and will cover bidding and play. Each lesson includes teaching some new elements and printed notes are provided on this. This will be followed by practice of what you have been taught together with a “homework” revision exercise.

The club presently teaches a standard ACOL system, which is used in most New Zealand clubs.

Lessons for 2010 start either Tuesday 9 March (evenings) or Wednesday 10 March (mornings) until about the end of May. After the lessons finish up to four weeks of practice play are held in June. Learners are then invited to join the club. The Junior club night is Wednesday.

Lessons are $5 per night (same as table money) payable on the night. Learners are encouraged to attend all lessons so they do not miss an important topic and its practice.

• Counting points
• Playing techniques – simple and more advanced later in the series
• No-trump bidding and play
• Suit bidding and play
• Bidding strong hands
• Bidding weak hands
• An introduction to ethics and laws
