The Auckland Regional Committee wish to congratulate Nick Jacob of Akarana.

Nick has been awarded, jointly, the prestigious Jean Peche Award for 2008 by the NZ Bridge Board of Management..

Nick has been a member of Akarana and playing competitive bridge for the last four years.

He is currently a Provincial Master with, at the end of 2008, 114A 55B and 80C Points.

During 2008, he won 48.97 A Points 26B and 13C.

His major results in 2008 were:

Gold Coast Congress Teams: 16th in the highest placed all NZ team.

Auckland Congress Teams : 2nd.

Auckland Provincial Teams: 1st in an all Youth team.

Tauranga Congress Teams: made Plate final.

As in the previous three years, he represented Auckland in the Youth Inter-Provincials.

He played for the New Zealand Under 26 team in the World MindSport Games in Beijing.

He has an excellent calm and polite manner at the table and in 2007 won the Curly Del'Monte Fair Play Award at the National Bridge Congress.

He is also a very valuable member of Akarana away from the table, helping out and advising on computer scoring and in 2008 served as a member of the club committee.

Nick is still only 19 and has great potential as a player, which is slowly being realised. He also contributes away from the table and is a deserved recipient of the 2008 Jean Peche Award.
