This page contains very important information - if you are planning on creating or maintaining your own website, you must read this page first!

About the ContractBridge.Net site management system

To administer your website, log in using the form on the home page. This gives you access to your own Site Manager - a powerful online tool which allows you to create, upload and manage the files which make up your site.

There are two ways to edit your individual web pages:
(1) Use your favourite web design software and upload the pages.
(2) Use our online WSYWIG File Editor (WSYWYG = What You See Is What You Get). This allows you to edit your pages using a familiar layout screen and toolbar. If you choose this option, there are some limitations you need to be aware of:

  • You must use Internet Explorer 6 (or greater) to access the File Manager. Other browser may provide limited features or experience problems such as not being abe to click between HTML and WYSIWYG options
  • Your screen resolution should be set to 800x600 or (preferably) greater.
  • The WSYWYG editor is designed to get you started and to make simple changes to text, images, etc. If you want to have full control over your pages, you will need to invest a bit of time and learn some HTML basics. Don't worry, it's not hard and we have tutorials available.

About website management in general

Here are a few essential knowledge gems for making any website, no matter what system you use:

  • Web pages are very different to other types of documents (such as MS Office documents, MS Publisher files, Photoshop files, etc). You need to understand how and why, or you cannot hope to create effective web pages. See our tutorials for more information.
  • The way you name your files on the internet is very important. Do not use spaces or unusual characters (such as "&"). File names are also case-sensitive, so that "image.jpg" is considered to be a different file to "Image.jpg" or "image.JPG".
  • Although there are many shortcuts available to help you make your website, there is no substitute for learning how to do it properly. This includes learning basic HTML. If you want your website to perform and be trouble-free, it will take effort on your part.
